With a Bachelor Degree of Science in Physics – Electronic, and a minor in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo, Hosam Agwa joined the reputable soul authorized AVID reseller in Egypt (Kemet International) in 1994 to work as technical support engineer for all sold AVID editing systems. He also trained lots of new editors, ex-linear editors and trainers who train other editors. That, in turn, gave him the opportunity to perform a considerable amount of test-drive editing sessions to new prospect clients, acclaimed directors, editing studios and government organizations. Hosam’s technical studies and experience, mixed with his music background and filmmaking passion, acted as a great foundation for a super-successful career in non-linear video editing.
After nearly two years of working as a freelance editor and AVID trainer in Egypt, Hosam moved to Dubai, UAE, in 1997. He headed the Post Production department at Rahbani Productions for nearly four years, during which he edited hundreds of TV commercials for multinational agencies, and international brands and he then started his directing career into the world of corporate-documentary-videos.
During that period, and to strengthen his professional capabilities, Hosam has joined the “Maine Workshops” – Rockport, Maine, USA, for three courses; “Director’s Skill”, “Directing TV Commercials ” and “The Documentary Camera”. The atmosphere of the workshops and the great deal of industry networking has aspired Hosam to discover new dimensions within his filmmaking knowledge. He acquired new techniques, new perspectives and new visions.
In 2001 Hosam Joined Filmworks, where he continued his editing career, and developed his directing one. During that period, Hosam’s constant interaction with many international crew members has enhanced his directorial capabilities, and caused him to excel in servicing a wide range of different client as a corporate film director. By the end of his service at Filmworks, Hosam Agwa has directed many corporate films for big-names’ clients, with a satisfactory on each of them.
In 2005 he started “AFLAM” as a film production division at Montage TV Production, a young, aggressive, fast-growing, highly creative and highly professional post production house in Dubai, UAE. This move has sparked a lot of success in Hosam’s professional life. It gave him more freedom of choice, more clients to serve, more international crew members to work with, and most supportive business partners.
Currently, (starting January 2012), Hosam is an official freelance producer/director, legalized by Dubai Media City Authority (TECOM).
