I don’t know if I still love editing because of the continues challenges (on both the artistic and technical levels) that feed my eagerness, or because it was the one things that “formatted” my mind and prepared my soul for directing and producing!
As I first laid my hands on AVID Media Composer around 20 years ago, it was like winning the grand prize of all grand prizes! I started as a demo person and an assistant editor, then an editor, then became a trainer, and finally an editor. Probably that period is what nurtured my passion for editing and filmmaking, and also shaped my young editing techniques at the time, and set me for the world!
I later joined few of the most reputed companies in Dubai, UAE, where I got to work on thousands of projects; TV commercials, documentaries, corporate videos, short format, long format, low budget, high budget, sky-rocket high budget, you name it! I also got exposed to more and more sophisticated equipment, brilliant directors and producers, great editors, super-good graphics animators, very noisy sound engineers, articulate cameramen, circus-performing coordinators and fantastic coffee-boys! I learned from each and every one of them! And between the deadlines and the extra-ordinary continuous pressure, I managed to gain new skills, new friends and developed a personal flavor for my edits!
For me, now, editing is like my very first baby! My precious precious baby!
